Calculating Freight Charges (;)
The computer calculates freight charges when a valid entry is made in the Invoice #, Customer Code, or Ship-To Zip Code field, or when +R is entered. First, the computer waits until a valid weight is received from the scales. The weight is considered valid when the computer receives three consecutive readings that are the same. If the computer receives no readings, it will give the following message: "Scale not Responding." Make sure that the scales is turned on and the cables are properly connected to the computer. If the scale is turned on and there is no weight on the scales, "Scale Weight is ZERO" message will appear at the bottom of the screen. Just place your package on the scales, or you may enter the weight manually. If the weight is unstable, usually caused by somebody leaning on the scales, the computer will appear as if it is doing nothing.

After the computer reads the scales it gets the zip code from the Customer file (C), cross references it with the Shipping Zones file ("), and then calculates the shipping charges from the Shipping Charges file (:).

See page O for a list of the Shipping Options.

The Shipping Options can also be accessed from the (;) screen by pressing <Shift F1>, selecting Questions, and then option O for Shipping Options.

/ - This gives you the option to enter the number of packages for the invoice. Screen commands are disabled until all packages are entered.

Os - (Oversized) Entering an "O" will place an asterisk under the Os and recalculate the shipping charges using at least 25 pounds for the UPS # charges.

Ao - (Acknowledge of Delivery) Entering an "A" will place an asterisk under Ao.

Cod - (Collect on Delivery) Entering a "C" will ask you for the C.O.D amount.

cT - (Call Tag) Entering a "T" places an asterisk under cT.

Dv - (Declared Value) Entering "D" will ask for the Declared Value.

0-9 - The desired shipping option must be entered after the above options. The ship options without amounts may not be used.

* - (Reject) This rejects entry and calculations and allows you to re-enter.
