Report Generator Screen (r)
This screen is used to prepare your report for printing.
Specify the report date, the records you want printed, and
in some cases the time period the report is to cover. If
you can't change the date, this will not affect your
report.
PRINTING - This is the report name, which is usually
printed at the top of each page. Although the cursor
initially goes to the field below this one, you can press
FROM FILE - This is a single character telling which file
the data for this report is coming from.
ON - Enter the report date. The default is the system
date. The computer will generate a "word" date which
includes the day of the week, and is usually printed at
the top of each page. This "word" date may also be
accessed with STARTING AT - This is usually the first record in the file
you are printing from. Press ENDING WITH - This is usually the last record in the file
you are printing from. Press
Press WHEN READY... Press "P" to print the report, "S" to
display it on the screen, "W" to print to the Word
Processor, "D" to print to the Hard Disk or the user
number of the printer to which you want to print.
PRINTING TO SCREEN - When you display a report on the
screen and it does not all fit on one screen, press
PRINTING TO THE WORD PROCESSOR - If you select "W" to
print to the Word Processor file, a message appears at the
bottom of the screen, "Enter Word Processor File Code, or
To see the report that the computer printed to the Word
Processor file, press
PRINTING TO THE HARD DISK - You may select D to print to
disk. When you press D, a message appears at the bottom of
the screen: "Enter file name:" Enter the disk device you
wish to print to followed by a colon (:), followed by a
name (not more than 8 characters with no spaces) to
distinguish the file. For example, you may want to print
the Inventory Listing to hard disk device C. You would
select D to print to disk and when asked to enter file
name you would type: C:INVLIST. When you press
PRINTING TO A USER # - If the user number is 0 to 9,
simply press the number. If the user # of the printer is a
two-digit number, press "N" and the options display at the
bottom of the screen. Then type the 2-digit printer
number. The report should print on the selected printer.
Some reports are sorted. These run in background, which
means that as soon as you press "P" to print, the submemu
screen will reappear, and you can continue using the
computer while it sorts and prints the report. Avoid
changing data which would affect the report while it is in
progress.
